On the Road – Travel writing has taken me everywhere, from the Bali bombings to the riotous road to election of Evo Morales in Bolivia, Bangladesh’s silent military coup, and the first elections held in Sierra Leone since the civil war.
Impact is at the heart of what I do, whether developing editorial strategy, writing about a journey that’s been keeping me up at night, or waiting for the sun to rise over the shot I’ve lined up. It’s about telling the story the way it was meant to be told.
As a travel publisher, I love designing the architecture and rooms of the publication.
As a travel writer, I work to bring those rooms to life.
I create high-quality travel publications in print and digital formats for travel publishers and the travel industry.
As Managing Director of Azalay Media I specialise in travel publication strategy, product development, marketing and production for print, digital, video and audio.
Azalay Media develops unique and visionary travel publications, offers a full-cycle travel publishing service for consumer brands and the travel industry, and develops and champions the skills of travel publishing professionals.
When not managing travel guide series for publishers around the world, I may be found writing and snapping pictures for the Mail on Sunday, Frommer’s, Real Travel Magazine, Illustrated London News, Michelin Green Guides and Michelin Must Sees.
When not writing and travelling, I have previously served as Editorial Manager at Michelin Travel, Travel Editor at Best loved Hotels, Travel and Retail Editor at Durrants and as a reporter on local newspapers back in the early days.
Apart from travel and often at the same time, I Iove riding motorbikes, skiing, snowboarding and scuba diving.
I have spent a lot of time ‘working’ in destinations throughout Europe, SE Asia, Australasia and North and South America. There’s plenty more to get through, so get in touch if you have an idea for a story, a guide, or even a film.
